Sunday 2 November 2025

2.00 pm - 4.30 pm

5 Kiln Street, Grantham, Q 4347

This event is organised by Permaculture Toowoomba Inc.

Bookings are Essential

Bookings are essential so that we have contact details and know how many will be attending.

What We'll Do

We’ll start at 2.00 pm with a welcome and introduction. We like to visit a range of different gardens, each as unique as the gardeners who live there. It's wonderful to see the diverse garden styles, approaches, and plants that can be grown in our bioregion.

This month we'll visit The Foxes, at Grantham.

What We'll See

  • Swales and Berms with food forest type aims.

  • Shade house with potting shed.

  • Fenced veggie garden with 20 wicking beds.

  • Herb & succulent gardens.

The Story Behind the Garden (a few words from Steve and Julie)

We moved from WA to QLD in October 2021 into Gatton Helidon Rd but sustained heavy flooding in Feb 2022. Re-located to Grantham in April 2023 to a very blank canvas.

Our inspiration was to provide as much food as possible whilst growing for the future as well. With very poor soil and steep slopes we put in swales to catch rain and berms for trees, planting over 100 plants, an assortment of natives and edible mostly from rootstock.

We have been super impressed with the crops we have grown and variety of food grown. We then built a shade house with potting shed attached and veggie garden with wicking beds. Learnt to preserve food, make kombucha, sourdough bread and make soaps from the garden excesses.

We originally moved from UK in 2007 to Perth where we lived for 14 years after COVID and Steve’s cancer diagnosis to be nearer our two daughters who live in QLD and Victoria.

A light afternoon tea will be provided (including Gluten Free and Vegan options).
