Garden to Pantry Class
Event description
The joys of growing food include the satisfaction of having a pantry brimming with food that's harvested and stored. Seasons of abundance and glut mean that with some planning and a little fun preparation, you can store away extras to enjoy later.
We will harvest from our garden on the day and convert fresh fruit and veg to freshly preserved snacks and meals.
At this class you'll learn how to dry and dehydrate snacks, meals and all sorts of wonderful produce from your garden. Think vegie chips, vegetable stocks, savoury and sweet wraps, gluten free breads, whole meals that are also ideal for camping and hiking trips, and even more.
Do you need a dehydrator? No, it's not essential. I'll teach you how to use your oven for dehydrating too.
We'll enjoy a taste of each of the items we make too, with all recipes and techniques shared so you can make the same at home. Your family will love the delicious things coming out of the pantry and you'll be able to maximise the benefits of organic home grown food from your own patch, or the cheaper seasonal boxes of food when they are abundant in the markets.
This is a tasty and inspiring class that helps you to prevent food waste while creating nutritious life giving food.
