presented by Doreen Jachmann, Nourished Landscapes

in the new garden of Joel Bolitho

Sunday 7 July 2024

2.00 pm - 4.30 pm

6 Pioneer Way, Gowrie Junction, Q 4352

This event is organised by Permaculture Toowoomba Inc.

Bookings are Essential

Bookings are essential so that we have contact details and know how many will be attending.

What We'll Do

We’ll start at 2.00 pm with a welcome and introduction. We like to visit a range of different gardens, each as unique as the gardeners who live there. It’s wonderful to see the diverse garden styles, approaches, and plants that can be grown in our bioregion.

This month will be something special!

We'll visit Pioneer Gardens, a 1 acre blank canvas at Gowrie Junction owned by Joel Bolitho. Doreen Jachmann of Nourished Landscapes will be visiting for a Property Consultation earlier that day and will then present the outcomes of her consultation during a Q&A for our Garden Insights visit.  This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about element placement and interconnectedness of elements in permaculture design from an expert.

What We'll See

    A blank canvas!!!
Joel is following Linda Woodrow's The Permaculture Home Garden book. He has started this process by building a chook dome, and applying as much organic matter as possible. There are pumpkins and pigeon pea growing at this stage. They have been exchanging eggs for kitchen scraps to feed the chooks and soil.

    The Story Behind the Garden

    A few words from Joel:

We're a young family, Toowoomba born and bred, new to one acre of land with some massive gardening goals!

    1. to supply fresh fruit and veg to ourselves and other local families using permaculture principles.
    2. to supply local cafes and restaurants.

We wish to document the progress to share wins and losses of gardening knowledge and growth. Plus interact with the public to learn and share. We look forwards to being a part of a growing and healthy community. So follow along, reach out and say G'day!

My plan is to be a very active contributor of goods to this group and the community. The reason for this event is to kick start this journey which requires some capital investment. I plan to have a few fund-raising things on the go.  If people could be prepared to contribute, that would be amazing.
