Gardens for Wildlife Bike Ride
Event description
Join this sociable ride exploring aspects of Merri-bek's Gardens for Wildlife program. The Gardens for Wildlife program at Merri-bek sees volunteers and Council work together to create shelter, nesting habitat, and natural food and water sources at both Council sites and private gardens. We plan to visit at least three of these sites, and have invited Council officers and a homeowner to share their work with us.Â
This ride will start from Gowrie Station, and head east to explore the Moomba Park Wetlands, the Bababi Djinanang grassland and a private home in Coburg North before returning along the Upfield Path.Â
It will be a very relaxed social pace with plenty of time at each stop to hear Officers and volunteers talk about their work and explore and ask questions. You will need to be comfortable riding on roads with some traffic for parts of this ride although much of it will be on shared paths.
The ride if FREE but you must register. Â
You can ride to the meeting point at Gowrie Station via the Upfield path or catch the Upfield line train with your bike to Gowrie. You will be able to return home from either Fawkner or Gowrie Stations.Â
The ride will take approximately three hours.Â
