Gardens for Wildlife Speaker Series (Online) - Citizen COP 2026
Description
Urban biodiversity: From global frameworks to local action with Dr Judy Bush
As global leaders meet to discuss progress on the implementation of global goals for climate action and for biodiversity, how do the global plans relate to local actions in our gardens and across the city? This talk will introduce the global climate and biodiversity plans, and consider priorities for local action.
Judy’s research focuses on nature-based solutions for the climate change-biodiversity nexus in cities, examining environmental policy and governance perspectives, including collaborative governance, sustainability transitions and resilience. She has previously worked with alliances of local government on climate change action, community engagement and waterways restoration in Melbourne Australia.
This event is part of City of Melbourne’s regular Gardens for Wildlife speaker series, which offers opportunities to learn through online sessions focused on habitat gardening and caring for wildlife in backyards.

About Citizen COP Australia
Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
