Event description

Talking Contemporary and Food Art Research Network are delighted to invite you to join us online for a gathering as part of Seaweed Stories; an international research and exchange project that connects seaweed creative practices, art-making, and modes of thinking across Asia and Australia. The project is initiated by curator Bianca Winataputri and supported by curatorial researcher Madeleine Collie.

Through an online gathering of seaweed research "snacks" we will hear from four distinct creative practitioners: Jessie French, Ari Bayuaji, We+ Studio and Manola-Gayatri Kumarwamy and Anumitra Ghosh Dastidar of Edible Archives. We gather with seaweed across oceans to learn about ways of attuning to underwater ecologies by making, eating, designing and collaborating with seaweed, kelps and marine algaes.

We invite you to bring something seaweed related to snack on during the event.

We look forward to hosting you!

Times:

  • 2.30-4pm (Goa)
  • 4-5:30pm (Bali)
  • 5-6:30pm (Japan/South Korea)
  • 7-8:30pm (Melbourne)

The meeting will be hosted on zoom, a link will be shared prior to the event.

If you have access needs or would like to suggest accomodations we can make please contact Madeleine at foodartresearchnetwork@gmail.com

About Seaweed Stories

Seaweed Stories invites artists, farmers, marine biologists, historians, chefs, and publics across Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, and Australia to collectively think, feel, and practice 'with' seaweed and with each other through a series of discussions, workshops, and satellite displays. It is a project that brings communities together, and seeks to find our common story now and into the future.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body. Support for the research was provided by MMCA (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), Seoul, South Korea.
