GAYCT history tour by bike
Description
Presented by The Canberra Series, Canberra by Bike, in association with Pedal Power ACT.
Join tour guides Russell Nankervis from the Canberra Series and Paris Lord from Canberra by Bike for a slow, social ride showcasing sites integral to the city's queer history.
You'll learn about locations including Telopea Park and Kingston, the ACT Legislative Assembly, nightclubs in Civic and Braddon, and unexpected sites like Hobart Place. We'll finish at the Rex Hotel on Northbourne Avenue.
This is a stop/start slow ride of roughly 8km, at a pace you can talk normally. It's mostly flat, except for the approaches to Kings Avenue Bridge and an underpass to Constitution Avenue. We will use as microphone and small speaker.
Unfortunately we cannot supply any cycles for this tour, but recommend hire schemes including Lime bike/scooter, and Cycle Canberra which can deliver your bike to the start of our tour (On Lake Cafe, at Bowen Park, Kingston).
Wear comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and a helmet, and bring a jacket as it's often windy at Lake Burley Griffin.
