GEAR up- Introduction to SPIKE Robotics

Discover the wonderful world of robotics these holidays. 

GEAR up is excited to invite GIRLS AND BOYS aged 8+ to this introductory workshop. Whether you have done robotics before and are looking to extend your skills or totally new to robotics, this workshop is perfect for you. Over the 2 days the brand new course will be ran in 2 sessions:

Introduction to SPIKE robots (13/01/2022 9am till 1pm)  

• SPIKE robots are LEGO robots that can be built in custom designs, then programmed using the LEGO SPIKE software. Come along to learn how to make your robot dance and sumo in this fun workshop.

SPIKE A-MAZE-ing workshop (14/01/2022 9am till 1pm) 

• Put your skills to the test! Take part in a number of fun and challenging competitions including Line Follow, Maze runs and obstacle courses (prizes will be on offer!).

No prior skills required!

Although this is an introductory course, anyone who has done robotics before is encouraged to come along to extend and refine their skill set and we will be sure to challenge them. 

Tickets are available for either of the 2 sessions Individually or both together (at a discounted price!).

What to Bring:

• BYO laptop with LEGO SPIKE software (https://education.lego.com/en-...)  If this is an issue please contact us!
• Robots will be provided

COVID-19 policy/guidelines
The workshop is being held at Peregian Digital Hub, a Noosa Council facility. Noosa Council has advised the Hub does not require proof of vaccination for entry.  However workshop attendees will be required to check-in (via paper and/or Qld Check-In app). Queensland Health's requirements are that masks must be worn inside venues and workplaces (for ages 12 and up). 

Sanitiser will be provided in the venue and surfaces/desks will be cleaned in between each workshop.  Anyone who is feeling unwell or has cold/flu-like symptoms must not attend the workshop. A refund will be issued if you can no longer attend due to illness or if changes to Qld Health's mandates mean the workshop cannot proceed.
