Gel Printing Workshop - Simone Tippett
Make your own gel prints!
Dip your toes into the DIY world of gel printing with Simone Tippett of Union St Printmakers. Simone will inspire and guide you through the wonderfully fun possibilities of gel plates.
About Gel Printing:
Gel printing is a kind of mono printing that uses flexible printing plates to create textures with multiple layers of colour, quickly and easily, without a press. Gel processes range from stencilling and nature printing, to t-shirt printing and tricky photo/laser images. Gel prints are gorgeous in their own right, but also make fabulous backgrounds to lino and screen prints, for book binding, even as backgrounds to cyanotypes.
The Workshop:
Great fun and endlessly absorbing, no drawing skills required! By the end of the workshop, you'll have fallen in love with the possibilities of printmaking. No prior experience needed. You’ll take home heaps of prints AND the skills to keep printing at home. Great fun!
In this 3 hour workshop Learn how to make your own gel plate. All paints and materials supplied. Participants are also encouraged to bring any of their own acrylic paints and paintbrushes they might like to use. Also bring any Leaves (non-spikey), doilies, textures, string, thread, etc. (Some of these will be covered in acrylic by the end of the workshop, so nothing precious)
