This ‘101’ level workshop is designed to equip you with the foundational language, knowledge and tools needed to support trans individuals in your workplace community. It is our recommended starting point for building cultural competency around trans inclusion.

What will you learn?

  • The difference between sex, gender, gender expression and sexual orientation
  • Key terminology and supportive language
  • Common lived experiences for trans individuals

You’ll also gain insights into what support looks like from the perspective of the trans communities, and learn the ‘why’ behind common supportive actions such as proactive pronoun sharing.

Who is it for?

This workshop is perfect for policy builders, people leaders and co-workers who wish to upskill in their allyship. With a mix of facilitated discussions, videos and group activities, you’ll leave feeling confident and empowered to create a more equitable and welcoming workplace environment - both for trans individuals, and for those who support us.

Testimonials:

"I think it was the most valuable training I've done in years. It's the first opportunity I've ever had to discuss these subjects and it was in such an open and honest way to discuss it."- Anonymous

"Interactive, generous and encouraging session helping folks at all levels to become more aware of evolving gender dynamics within ourselves and around us." -BloomHQ Workshop Participant

"This is one of the best workshops I've attended. It was a magic balance of informative, heart-felt and mind-expanding. This is a potentially emotive and complex area to explore, and at no stage did I feel I couldn't ask questions or discuss my perspectives." - Regan Barsdell, BloomHQ

"As a queer person myself I am really grateful for your mahi to educate and engage with organisations on these topics. It was heartening to see the conversations being had amongst our team, thank you for facilitating these!” - Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand Workshop Participant
