Home Matters: Gender, Housing, and Wellbeing Campaspe Focus Groups

Have you been impacted by poor housing availability, unstable living arrangements, or accommodation that doesn’t feel safe, secure, or suitable? Would you like to be part of shaping solutions that reflect women’s real lives and experiences?   

Women's Health Loddon Mallee invites women and gender diverse people from Campaspe Shire to participate in a community focus group to reflect on their experiences of housing. 

This focus group offers a safe and supportive space to share lived experiences, connect with others, and contribute to a deeper understanding of how housing affects women’s wellbeing. By taking part, you can help Women's Health Loddon Mallee to inform the development of housing approaches that are inclusive, respectful and grounded in women’s voices. 

Eligibility:  

These focus groups are open to all women and gender diverse people aged 18+ living in Campaspe Shire including renters, homeowners and people living in other housing situations. Housing insecurity is felt widely by the whole community in terms of stress, financial instability and disruptions to personal and family life.

Date + Time:  

Take part in one of the following sessions: 

• Rushworth - Tues 5th May 12.30-2pm, Rushworth Community House; 67 High Street, Rushworth 3612 

• Echuca, Monday 11th  May 11.30-1pm, Echuca Neighbourhood House Inc; 261 High St, Echuca, VIC 3564 

Reimbursement:

Each participant will receive $100 for their involvement in the session (paid to nominated bank account or electronic gift card within 10 working days).  

Light refreshments will be provided. 

Sessions are limited to 12 people. Registration is essential. 

What is this project about?  

Women’s Health Loddon Mallee (WHLM) recognizes that women’s experiences of housing are shaped by gender in ways that are often overlooked. Factors such as the gender pay gap, caring responsibilities, family and domestic violence, rising housing and living costs mean many women are facing additional barriers to finding and keeping safe, affordable, and secure housing.  

Housing insecurity can have serious impacts on women’s mental health and wellbeing, including stress, anxiety and emotional distress. By coming together to share lived experiences in a focus group, participants will have an opportunity to make these realities visible, contribute to a better understanding of how housing affects wellbeing, and help shape more inclusive, dignified and effective outcomes.

Your voice will help inform local action in Campaspe and support the development of housing approaches that reflect women and gender diverse people’s real needs and experiences. 

Privacy of Participants: 

Stories and experiences shared in the session will be audio recorded for the purpose of ensuring participants voices are accurately represented and respected.   

The information collected in the focus group will be shared through reports and advocacy activities. Participant privacy will be maintained at all times. No information will be shared that identifies persons involved in the project. 

All data collected will be maintained securely in a way that ensures that your identity is kept private.
