Victoria is leading the nation with the Gender Equality Act 2020 and the role of Victorian Commissioner for Gender Equality in the Public Sector. The Commission’s Baseline report – 2021 workplace gender audit data analysis provided an overview of the state and nature of gender inequality in Victoria’s public agencies, and reports on measures from equal pay to sexual harassment, women in leadership, flexible work and leave, and more. Of the police and emergency services sector, the report found:

  • Overall low representations of women in the workforce
  • Low proportion of women in CEO roles
  • Very low proportion of women as governing body Chairs
  • Significant pay gaps at senior levels
  • Very high rates of workplace discrimination
  • High rates of sexual harassment

Join AWE and Gender Equality Commissioner Dr Nikki Vincent as she speaks about the findings in the Victorian police and emergency services sector, and the systemic and structural reform needed to address gender inequality.
