Gender Impact Assessment Workshop
Event description
Gender Impact Assessments are a key component of the Gender Equality Act requirements. They are also a useful process for any workplace or organisation looking to apply a gendered lens to their policy, program or service.
Join Women's Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West as we walk you through a practical and user friendly guide to undertaking Gender Impact Assessments (GIA’s).
This interactive session will focus on step 1 and 2 of the GIA process. Participants will gain an understanding in how to define the issue and challenge assumptions, and look at how to understand the policy, program or service context.
Participants will be provided with the knowledge and tools to apply a gender lens across their work.
You’ll learn when and how to carry out a GIA, explore real-life scenarios, and engage in peer-to-peer learning through small group activities and discussions.
Whether you are new to the GIA process or seeking to deepen your knowledge, this workshop is an opportunity to build confidence and competence in promoting gender equity within your organisation or community initiatives.
Who is it for?
This session is open to anyone with an interest in advancing gender equality, including but not limited to:
Policy and program developers
Public servants
Non-profit and community organization staff
Researchers and academics
Students and professionals working in social impact fields
No prior experience with a GIA is required—just a willingness to engage, learn, and reflect.
