    Event description

The recent data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has highlighted the wide range of action and success to reduce the gender pay gap among Australian businesses. The gender pay gap for businesses ranges from -5 per cent to over 30 per cent in some cases. The Victorian Government has commissioned research on the gender pay gap and what businesses can do to address it.

We want to understand how gender equality has been integrated into business strategy and values, what initiatives work and don’t work, and what are the barriers and enablers to sustained action. This is an opportunity for you to share your business’ practical experiences of developing and implementing change to address the gender pay gap. We want to hear from a wide range of businesses including those that have just begun to take action, and those that have been working on it for many years.  You will be able to learn from your peers about what they have been doing and workshop what government can do to practically support businesses to reduce the gender pay gap.

If you cannot attend a focus group, please register for an interview.

    We want to hear from:

    • Manufacturing businesses- Monday 20 May 2024, 2:00-3:30pm
    • Healthcare and Social Assistance businesses - Tuesday 21 May 2024, 2:00-3:30pm
    • Large businesses: Wednesday 22 May 2024, 10:00-11:30am
    • Construction businesses: Wednesday 22 May 2024, 2:00-3:30pm
    • Professional, Scientific and Technical services businesses: Thursday 23 May 2024, 2:00-3:30pm
    • 1:1 Interviews (45 mins): Time to be arranged with you

The session will take 90 minutes and be conducted online. This session is targeted to People Leaders, Diversity and Inclusion teams and decision makers in large businesses who are in positions to influence decisions on broader gender equality strategy, employee pay, conditions and policy.

This is part of a research project on the gender pay gap commissioned by the Victorian Government.
