Event description

NOTE THIS IS A GEN VIC MEMBER EVENT. YOU CAN JOIN GEN VIC BY CLICKING HERE.

Understanding State Budgets and funding cycles is key to securing your gender equality project or organisation. We're bringing to you three lunchtime seminars for members looking to improve their understanding of state budgets.

In this event we're talking about the most recent State Budget and Gender Responsive Budgeting.

Joining our CEO, Tanja Kovac, we're excited to let you know we will also be joined by Dr Monica Costa and Claire Bickell.

  • Dr Monica Costa is an Economist and Gender and Development Researcher who has a particular focus on the application of Gender Responsive Budgeting. Her book - Gender Responsive Budgeting in Fragile States: The case of Timor-Leste - is the first international publication addressing the potential of gender budgeting in fragile state contexts.
  • Claire Bickell is the Director of Financial Frameworks in the Budget and Finance Division of the Department of Treasury and Finance.  She oversees the Gender Responsive Budgeting Unit.  Over her career in the Victorian Public Service, she has worked on areas of family violence, Aboriginal self-determination, illicit drug policy, vocational training reform and the application of research to strategic issues in the criminal justice system.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our members to find out more about how gender responsive budgeting can be used to advance your gender equity projects, and understand one of Victoria's first gender responsive budgets.
