WHAT TO WEAR
The Gala will be a fancy affair, with the theme "In Full Bloom". The dress code is “anything that brings you gender euphoria”! Maybe it’s a fitted tux, or a sparkly gown. But maybe the thing that brings you gender euphoria is a baggy flannelette shirt. Good for you honey. There is no such thing as too much… or too little ;)
SAFETY
We have Peer Navigators hanging around near the Chill Out Space, available all night if you need any support.
There will also be trans-friendly security present throughout the whole evening for your comfort.
We’ll have volunteers and staff roaming around the whole venue. If there is an incident or you need assistance, please find someone wearing a trans flag lanyard.
ACCESS
There will be Auslan interpreters for all the performances as well as the awards ceremony
The room will be fitted with air purifiers throughout the evening
The Substation in Newport is 100% wheelchair accessible
We’ll have a low-sensory Chill Out Space available near the entrance
Please get in touch with us about any access needs/questions
If funds are a barrier for you to attend the Gender Revel Gala please reach out to Gala@tgv.org.au - we don't want anyone missing out for a lack of funds.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We will have professional photographers roaming throughout the evening. If you do not wish to be photographed, there will be red wristbands available to wear to let the photographers know to avoid taking your picture.
ELECTION NIGHT
Transgender Victoria acknowledges the date of the Gender Revel Gala coincides with the Victorian State Election. While we don't know what the results will look like, we do know what our night will look like: celebrating trans excellence, standing together in solidarity and holding space for one another. Regardless of what season is ahead, this will be a night for us all to flourish and bloom.
COVID SAFETY
We acknowledge that COVID-19 has an ongoing impact on all members of our communities, especially our immunocompromised and disabled communities.
Below are the strategies we are implementing at the Gender Revel Gala to increase our COVID-19 safety and build a culture of community care:
- Free N95 and K94 masks are available and wearing is encouraged - let’s keep each other safe!
- Air purifiers will be on in all spaces
- Doors will remain open to all our event spaces on the night
- Hand sanitiser will be made available
TGV operates across lands belonging to the Wurundjeri, Boonwurrung, Taungurong, Dja Dja Wurrung, and Wathaurung peoples of the Kulin Nation. Transgender Victoria pays its respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledges that sovereignty has never been ceded. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
