The Gendered Drivers of Violence in Everyday Life - a Lunch & Learn Series
Event description
The Gendered Drivers of Violence in Everyday Life – an interactive workshop series with Women’s Health Loddon Mallee and The Men’s Project.
There is a growing consensus that gender inequality drives violence against women in our society. But what does this actually mean and how does this play out in our everyday lives? Using the framework set out in Our Watch’s Change the Story as a guide, these workshops will unpack two of the key drivers of violence against women:
- Condoning of Violence Against Women
- Men’s control of decision-making and limits to women’s independence in public and private life.
Delivered online, in succinct, one-hour sessions, participants will have the opportunity to engage in stimulating discussion and critical reflection that will leave them with:
- an increased understanding of the drivers of gender-based violence,
- the ability to identify how the drivers appear in spaces where they live, work and play,
- and an understanding of what they can do to promote positive social change.
Please note that while it is recommended that participants attend both workshops in this series, we understand that some people may only be able to attend one. If successful, WHLM will endeavor to deliver these workshops throughout the Loddon Mallee at other times throughout the year, and develop two additional workshops on the third and fourth drivers of gendered violence. For more information on these workshops, and other upcoming training opportunities, please sign up to our mailing list or visit the training section on our website.
