Event description

Generative Walk & Write
Sunday August 24 from 9-11:30am
Must be 13+ to participate

Under 18 must attend with a registered adult

Experience mindfulness writing prompts while spending time with nature. Sit by a tree and write her story. Listen to a reading while you put your feet into the grass and find their roots. Love on a flower and write her love story. This workshop is not for only nature writers but also for nature loving writers and any creator that appreciates the gifts of life. This event is rain or shine!

Please wear appropriate shoes. Participants must also bring their own notebooks, pens, or other material to write with.

Disclaimer: This walk is on flat ground but would be difficult to trek for most wheelchairs. We will be going at a fairly slow and steady pace.

You'll hear inspiring readings, receive intuitive prompts, and be invited (but never required!) to share your writing with the group. We’ll also touch on the history of automatic writing and explore the blocks that keep us from trusting our gut. Come with an open mind and leave with pages filled by your intuitive self.

Perfect for writers, creatives, and anyone seeking deeper connection to their inner voice.

About the Facilitator:

Sarah S. Velázquez is a writer and healer who arrives at her work with the intention of destigmatizing the human experience, one story at a time. Many of Sarah's poetry and non-fiction prose have been published in publications like Pathos Literary MagazineThe Pacific Sentinel, and Ooligan Press. She served as the Associate Editor for TPS, among other editorial positions over the years. Sarah writes a Substack column titled Wounded Healer, a publication of memoir essays that reflect on her wild and nomadic past life from before her stigmatized disability crept into her nervous system, shapeshifting her life forever. Writing impactful stories within the integrity of the earth is how she heals wounds, both hers and yours.
