Genius - Saturday 27 September
Event description
Step into the witty and wonderfully irreverent world of Genius - where 17th-century trailblazing painter Artemisia Gentileschi collides with a street-smart, paint-splattered rising graffiti star, Miss Ella.
Written by Sandra Thibodeaux and co-produced by Sandra, JUTE Theatre Company, and Simona Cosentini, this is no dry history lesson. It’s a fast, funny, and fearless ride through art, ambition, and the messy business of breaking barriers and making your mark.
Shortlisted for the NT Literary Awards and longlisted for the Griffin Award, hailed as “whimsical” and “empathetic” by its judges, Genius is a sharp and entertaining new Australian work that will spark conversation long after the curtain falls.
Note: we're working on an Artist Talk with playwright Sandra Thibideaux and visual artist Laurel Mackenzie who is exhibiting at Northsite during our season. This is scheduled to be held late afternoon on Saturday 27th. Keep an eye out for further updates!
