Geology 101: Basic Principles
Event description
Join DLC and retired geologist Tom Loucks to learn about the basic principles of geology. If you've attended Rik William's Intro to Douglas County Geology, or any other geology event throughout the years, this is the perfect opportunity to get your geological fundamentals down! Suitable for ages 10-100, he will summarize how rocks form, how they are changed by earth’s processes, and how you might guess a rock’s or even a landscape’s history when seeing it. Then other members of our volunteer geologist team will tell you all about our schedule of DLC/Douglas County Open Space geology events for the rest of 2025. Hint: some old favorites and exciting new events are coming this year!
The parking lot at the Lone Tree library can fill up fast- extra parking is available at Target just across Sky Ridge Ave. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to find a parking spot and find us upstairs.
DLC classes are offered free of charge, but a $10 per person donation is suggested so that we may continue to offer educational outreach classes in the community.
