Georgia Scarlett | 'Cursive' Single Launch
Event description
GEORGIA SCARLETT:
Local Brisbane-based folk artist Georgia Scarlett celebrates her next single release ‘Cursive’ on the 9th of September. This song forms part of the leadup to her debut album release ‘Rhythm of Life’. The album revolves around the theme of time - the changes which occur externally in the world, and the changes which occur internally, within ourselves. ‘Cursive’ forms a new storytelling perspective, expressing the moment whilst writing the album where she felt things were slowly falling into place.
“To me, this song feels like the world is giving me a big hug”, she said. “It's as if you’ve been navigating through a dense fog, and suddenly, the mist starts to lift, revealing a clear path ahead. There's a profound sense of validation, like all the struggles and setbacks were leading to this point of harmony and direction.”
The dreamy soundscape of acoustic and electric guitars, bass, piano, drums, violins, viola, clarinet, and ganjo have helped create this feeling of clarity and purpose in the music. ‘Cursive’ being Georgia’s biggest single project to date, brought the opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of talented industry members. The vocals for this track were recorded in Forbes Street Studios, Sydney with the support of Josh Marx back in November of 2023. This year working with Vermilion records, the instruments were recorded in the wonderful facilities at Queensland University of Technology with the help of Jake Rennie and the Vermilion team. Finally, mastered by Hugh Middleton at Out With The In Studios in Melbourne, the song got to travel around Australia to now make it to your ears.
With enchanting, smooth vocals and rich acoustic guitar playing, Georgia Scarlett has crafted a unique and captivating sound incorporating folk, country and indie styles. Her artist mission is to create and share music which connects to her audience through storytelling. To celebrate, Georgia and her band are putting on a single release show with the supports of Harry Kidd and Kat Flowers on the 14th of September at The Cave Inn.
