Georgia Weber - Wherever Home Is
Event description
Georgia Weber - Wherever Home Is
Live at It's Still A Secret, Brisbane
An alumni of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University's jazz department, Georgia Weber moved to Melbourne in 2010 and has been living in New York City since 2013. This is her first concert in Brisbane since living in the USA.
Georgia will be joined by Steve Newcomb on keyboard, Isaac Hurren on saxophone, and Sonny Ratcliff (USA) on drums to play a combination of jazz standards, original music, and covers from the repertoire of her NYC band, Georgia Weber and The Sleeved Hearts.
The Sleeved Hearts is an amalgamation of Georgia's extensive experience as a jazz double bassist, along with her time as songwriter/vocalist in her pop punk outfit 'A Date With Apathy' (2004-2009). It is an eclectic cohesion of traditional jazz roots, free improvisation, pop-punk and indie rock influences.
The Sleeved Hearts followed up their 2019 debut 'Keeping It Real' with 'No Standards', a compilation of non-jazz standards from the 1970s to today. Their new EP 'Big In Japan' will be released later in 2024.
