Event description

The Geraldton/Jambinu Men's Table - safeTALK Training Workshop, with Pizza & Drinks

Batavia Brewery

Wednesday 24th July, 2024; 5:00pm - 9:00pm

You're welcome to arrive from 4:30pm to mingle and settle in.

FREE TRAINING + $11 cost for pizza

In setting up Men's Tables, Ben and David, Co-Founders, were asked by men early on, 'What do we do if a man at our Table is experiencing a significant mental health crisis?"

Attending safeTALK, a suicide prevention skills training, is incredibly powerful and practical. safeTALK builds confidence to be able to help someone in a time of need.

We went looking for the best possible Suicide Intervention Training providers. We're delighted to offer to men in The Men's Table community this FREE Training in collaboration with National Centre for Suicide Prevention Training (WA) & Living Works. We will have pizza for dinner so there's a $11 fee to cover some of that.

safeTALK empowers everyone to play a role in preventing suicide, using a simple yet effective model. With over 120,000 people attending each year, it is the world's fastest-growing suicide prevention training.

Participants in safeTALK learn to identify someone who may have thoughts of suicide, ask the question about suicide directly and safely, and refer these individuals onto an ASIST trained caregiver or community safety connections.

safeTALK
then addresses common community perceptions and myths around suicide that prevent individuals from acting, such as the idea of "putting the idea of suicide in someones head".

We hope you can join us for this valuable experience and learning.

A side benefit of the workshop will be meeting men from across different Tables as well as other good men in the community who are invited
