German and European Foreign Policies by Dr Andreas Radtke

UC's German and Political Science and International Relations Programmes invite you to join us for a guest lecture on German and European Foreign Policies by Dr Andreas Radtke.

German and European Foreign Policy is facing significant challenges arising from a number of factors that have shaped recent global events: the rise and growing assertiveness of China, Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, changing US priorities under the second Trump administration, disruptions to energy and other supply chains, etc. Following international public debates such as at the World Economic Forum and Munich Security Conference at the start of the year, discussion about the future shape of the world order, middle power influence and limitations and new strategic alignments continue. A brief introduction that highlights some European and specifically German perspectives on these developments and suggested pathways into the future would be followed by a Q&A session that can explore commonalities and differences between a view form Berlin and from Brussels and New Zealand’s and various Indo-Pacific approaches to these issues. 

Dr Andreas Radtke is the Executive Director of the Canberra office of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) since its establishment in February 2025, covering the foundation’s activities in Australia and New Zealand.
