It's the warming spices that hit you first - ginger, cinnamon and cloves, mixed in with hints of frankincense and sandalwood, and roasted chestnut.

There's a sizzle as a juicy Bratwurst hits the grill, the twinkle of fairy lights and candles, tankards of Glühwein and Kinderpunsch, and strings of gingerbread hearts.

Willkommen to Kitchen Takeover's very special Weihnachtsmarkt - German Christmas Market. It's a festive treat to get you Gemütlich, that essential teutonic phrase invoking cosiness, warmth, and sociability.

Together with renowned local chef Dan Lockhart, Kitchen Takeover will deliver you from the outskirts of Tauranga to the heart of Dresden in December, satiating your senses with delicious, yet whimsical, festive fare.

We promise an advent extravaganza, a night of nutcrackers, Schwibbogen and aromatic candied almonds.  You will not want to miss it!

What?  Five courses, a welcome cocktail / mocktail, amid authentic festive German Christmas vibes!  

When? Friday, 27th of November to Saturday, 19th of December | 6:30pm - late 

Where? Secret location, a 10-minute drive from Tauranga CBD. The secret location will be revealed two hours prior via text!

How much?  $149pp + booking fee

💰 How much?   

Tickets cost $149pp + a small booking fee and includes five courses plus a welcome cocktail/mocktail at a fully immersive, styled secret venue.   

We use Humanitix for our ticket bookings - all their profits fund education programmes for disadvantaged children to help close the education gap.  

📍 Where will it be? 

A ✨ secret location ✨ that is only 10 minutes from central Tauranga.  

🤐 How will I know where the secret location is?  

The location is revealed two hours prior to the event time by text and email.

🍽️ What will you eat?   

The menu is set and will be revealed on arrival but expect a taste of German Christmas with the usual Kitchen Takeover flare!

We have alternative gluten free and vegetarian menus. Please select any listed requirements at the checkout.

👨‍🍳 Who is designing the mouthwatering menu?  

In the kitchen we have Dan Lockhart.

Dan is our incredibly talented Executive Chef and all-round great guy. He sharpened his skills at top restaurants in the Bay, including Fife Lane as their 'Mibrasa Master,' before moving to a family-friendly role. Prior to that, he spent five years in Melbourne, working at renowned venues like Republica and Press Club. His effortless, ingredient-focused dishes are inspired by seasonal produce.

🪑 How does seating work?

Seating will be communal. You will be sat with people you purchased tickets with, or request to be seated with.

🤔 Who is it for?   

Wild-at-heart foodies on the hunt for a ‘big city’ style food adventures. Think the secrecy of an East London supper club mixed with the gastronomy of a top Melbourne laneway eatery and the creativity of a Copenhagen restaurant.   

💃 What should I wear?   

The most important question! It’s the season for celebration, so feel free to dress up and ugly Christmas sweaters (or t-shirts depending on the weather) are most definitely encouraged!

🍷 Will there be drinks available to buy during the evening?   

Yes, we will offer a curated selection of beers, wines and soft drinks. We will also offer a wine and non-alcoholic drinks match which can be purchased on the evening.
