Daniel Lenkeit, Director, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands

Daniel Lenkeit is the Director Australia/New Zealand at Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI). GTAI is Germany’s economic development agency, with 60 offices abroad covering 150 markets. With over 18 years of experience in foreign trade promotion, Daniel provides market intelligence to German SMEs looking for opportunities in foreign markets. He and the GTAI team also consult foreign companies that want to set up their business in Germany. 

Daniel has been researching and building German foreign trade relations in the past when he was stationed in Saudi-Arabia and heading GTAI’s office in Canada until 2023. As of August 2024, he oversees Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands Countries. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the Free University of Berlin.

Dr. Rainer Müller, Senior Manager Mechanics & Electronics

Rainer is Germany Trade and Invest’s industry expert for Advanced Air Mobility and New Space. In this capacity, he is in close contact with the German Ministry of Economics and Energy and the German Space Agency and is well networked throughout the German aerospace and composites clusters. Rainer holds a PhD in European monetary policy from the Freie Universtität Berlin and has also studied at the Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and the London School of Economics (LSE). 

Rainer was a member of the board of “Nano in Germany” and a member of the supervisory board of “Leipzig Ventures”. He has been at Germany Trade and Invest and its previous institutions since 2001. Michael Schnabel, Senior Manager Investment Promotion

Michael Schnabel is a Senior Manager at Germany Trade and Invest’s (GTAI) Investor Support Services Team with a particular focus on financing and incentives. 

Headquartered in Berlin, he and his colleagues advise international enterprises, from start-ups to large companies, on funding and financing opportunities in Germany. 

Before joining GTAI, he held various positions in the banking sector in Germany and Switzerland. 

He holds degrees in Business Administration and Finance and pursued his higher education in Germany and Switzerland.
