A brief note about Kintsugi
Traditional Kintsugi (golden joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted mixed with powdered gold. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. It sees beauty in imperfection. The method I'm using applies this basic concept but also looks at the individual meaning of the pieces. We will also use modern materials and paint the ceramics in a more contemporary fashion.Following this is the gestalt chair with our artworks. This process invites you to make an enquiry of the bowl you've made and have the bowl respond to you, as a detached observer.
About the counsellor, Seka
I am a counsellor with a background in community work and education. I have experience with DV organisations and counselling women who have undergone serious trauma. I have also been a Youth Justice Conference Convenor - this requires the ability to listen to all parties and facilitate respectful communication. Not least of all, almost two decades of working with refugees and migrants has given me a compassionate approach to break through communication and cultural barriers. I have facilitated conscious dance and personal development retreats for many years. I enjoy creating my own music and I am also a comedy improviser! I am comfortable diving into the depths of difficult emotions, while helping people see the lighter side of life.I am trained in various counselling modalities, but have an experimental and basic approach to gestalt and Kintsugi. If you are looking for advanced classes or therapist training, please get in touch and I will refer you.
You are welcome to message me in advance to ask questions and check if this group is right for you.
