Get Fermented: The Art and the Alchemy of Fermenting for Food Medicine

Come along and make your very first ferment, by hand, from scratch, to take home with you.

This is a relaxed, hands-on workshop for complete beginners. Together, we will cover the basics of fermenting for food medicine: how it works, why your gut loves it, and how simple it is to keep going once you feel and find your rhythm.

Because this is a Make and Take-style workshop, you will do the chopping, salting, and packing yourself, so you leave knowing you can do it again in your own kitchen.

What you will take home

Your own jars of hand made sauerkraut
Take-home Cheat Sheet
The confidence to start fermenting at home

What to bring

A sharp knife
A cutting board
A large stainless-steel bowl
4 x 500g clean glass jars with lids (think pasta sauce, pickles etc as they have a good inner seal. Preferably no plastic lids and NO cork lids)
An apron, if you would like one

The details

Cost: $90 per person (this secures your spot and includes your fresh seasonal produce)
When: Saturday 11 July 2026 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Where: Rugby Park, Mount Isa
Spots: limited to 12, so there is room and hands-on time for everyone

Refunds and transfers
Plans change, and that's okay. Because fresh produce here in Mount Isa has to be sourced ahead of time, a full refund is available with at least 7 days' notice. With less than 48 hours' notice, the produce is already secured, so a refund is not available, but you are very welcome to come along to the next workshop instead.

Questions before you book? I would love to hear from you at getfermented@gmail.com.

No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get a bit messy :)
