Event description

The Atlassian Foundation has engaged the Institute of Community Directors Australia (ICDA) to deliver “Get on Board!” training.

This workshop gives prospective board members an opportunity to hear about what becoming a board member would entail and skills to feel confident to apply for a position. The discussion will explore the general principles of sitting on a board, and you’ll hear insights from a panel of current board members about their experiences of joining a board and what they have learned.

This session will cover:
* What’s the role of the board?
* Key principles of governance
* How to align your values to the purpose of a not-for-profit board
* Responsibilities of board members
* Fiduciary duties
* Governance versus management
* Acts, Regulations, Constitutions and Policies
* Codes of Conduct
* Conflicts of interest
* Risk management and insurance
* Where to find the information and policies required to fulfil your role
* Board member experience
* Questions for the panel

Please note that this workshop is being offered by invitation only as part of a pilot program, and we would appreciate your understanding and feedback to help inform our ongoing community program in 2024.
