Working with your waterways - free workshop and field trip
Event description
Join us for a free, hands-on workshop and field trip designed to help rural landowners understand how water shapes the landscape and what can be done to protect their land, streams and rivers. Led by waterways expert Danny Klimetz (Healthy Waters), this workshop will enable you to:
✅ Understand how land use impacts stream integrity and health
✅ Learn to conduct a Rapid Geomorphic Assessment of your waterway to understand its stage of life, risks and opportunities
✅ Explore achievable management solutions for erosion, flooding and restoration
This workshop is aimed at community in the north-east Rodney region - it seeks to bring together landowners from Whangateau, Leigh, Pakiri, Whangaripo, and Tomarata for an interconnected conversation.
Numbers are limited to ensure an interactive event - you'll have a chance to put what you've learnt into practice and Danny will be on hand to answer questions. Don't miss this amazing opportunity!
- The venue is the Whangateau Hall (533 Leigh Road) and we'll also be heading out to a local stream.
- Doors open at 12:45 pm for a 1 pm start.
- Afternoon tea will be provided, and there'll be a chance to connect with teams from Whangateau HarbourCare and Healthy Waters, as well as fellow attendees.
Special thanks to Auckland Council Healthy Waters for making this event possible
