Come along and show your support for the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses & Australia’s Living History!🐴✨

Almost 200 years of Australia’s history is inextricably linked with the wild horses found in the Guy Fawkes River National Park. They are direct descendants of Australia’s wartime horses, the original remount horses and antecedents of the Australian Stock Horse. They are the only group of Australian wild horses to have proven local heritage listed value.

Following the devastating aerial cull in 2000, the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association was formed. Early members pioneering a system of trapping and selling horses to the public, to ensure these horses had a future & that culling never happened again.

Studies were undertaken to determine heritage value of the horses, and due to the unique isolated geography of the local Guy Fawkes River National Park, the registered FGF breed was established. For the last 20 years the GFHH Association along with NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service, have successfully found homes for hundreds of horses removed from the park, each horse recorded, and a meticulous studbook maintained

These horses are incredibly intelligent, trainable, versatile, sturdy, sure footed, and loyal, and have proven themselves to be suitable to any discipline. They have gained a reputation as a naturally quiet, brave and level-headed breed – which is why they were so sought after by the Imperial Forces. The Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse is highly sought after & we have a considerable waiting list for purchase.

For the last 4 years no horses have been trapped, and we are doing everything in our power to campaign for trapping to recommence and ensure we don’t see any form of culling re considered.

Tickets are non refundable & proceeds from this event go towards supporting the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association’s efforts to preserve this incredible local breed.
