Event description

Dreamt up by an enthusiastic dad and his daughter, Gidge Ridge is an overnight live music event held on Whadjuk Noongar land. For the third edition of this mini-fest, we’re so excited to bring you a stacked local lineup, serene bushland, good food, camping + an irrefutably great vibe!

Tucked away in the north-eastern hills of the Darling Scarp, the name Gidgegannup comes from the Whadjuk Noongar word gidge meaning spear, translating to place where spears are made. We acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the custodians of this land and its rich bio-diverse ecology. Nearby to the north-east, following the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) as it turns into the so-called Avon River, is Ballardong country stretching out inland. We acknowledge elders past and present, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across this continent. This event takes place on stolen land, and we ask that everyone practices mindful acknowledgement of this as we gather.

Gidge Ridge brings together some of the finest and funnest live acts in the west for a weekend. Think: Fairbridge Festival meets Camp Doogs meets low-key camping retreat in the hills. We’re beyond excited to be hosting the inimitable Grievous Bodily Calm, Australiana mid-west emos Symmetrical Dogs, faff-rockers Didion’s Bible. Watch from the custom-built amphitheatre or descend to the front-of-stage dance floor and get down and dirty. After live music finishes, festivities kick on with relaxed boogie energy, hand-picked tune selections from festival curators, and late night heart2hearts in the true spirit of Hills house parties.

On Sunday morning, wake up right with improvised saxophone floating over the glassy surface of the dam from Josten Myburgh, a morning serenade from the angelic Anna Schneider, and the best duo contemporary-folk you've ever heard (a nostalgic favourite) from Sprightly Heap!
