November 7–9, 2025 | Bay of Plenty
Ginger’s is a proudly lesbian-led, not-for-profit company, and Bush Camp is one of our most meaningful, bold, and affirming kaupapa. It’s equal parts fun and deeply connective - a celebration of lesbian culture and a warm welcome to the wider queer community.
After the first camp this year was nothing short of life-changing (with friendships formed for all), we’re heading back to our private slice of bush paradise for round two with better weather (we're hopeful) , same magic.
The Camp Itself
This is not your standard 'roughing it' situation. You will still get to enjoy all things camp-life and its off-grid and nestled deep in the ngahere, but we’ve brought just enough boujee to keep it comfortable - think heated dorms, private hot showers, and kai you’ll be talking about for months. It’s a full reset, a break from the outside world, and a rare chance to truly connect with your people.
When: Friday 7 - Sunday 9 November (Arrive Friday between 2pm-5pm. No Saturday arrivals - once we’re in, we’re in.)
Where: Deep in the Bay of Plenty bush - Kaimai Ranges (approx. 45 mins from Tauranga Airport). We set up a camp WhatsApp chat so you can arrange carpooling, and we can do some Tauranga Airport pick-ups and drop-offs if needed. The exact location will be revealed to ticket holders once sales close.
Accommodation Options
All on secure private land surrounded by native bush.
Tent Pass - $550
Dorm Pass - $580 (4-person dorm, mattress provided. Bring your own bedding. We’ll do our best to put you with your group, friend, or partner if you request this.)
Campervan Spot - $600
A small Humanitix ticketing fee (the lowest around, and 100% goes to charity).
We know the cost of living is no joke right now. Pulling off a camp like this takes serious mahi and resources, but we’ve done everything we can to keep prices as low as possible with no funding, while still delivering something beautiful. To make it more manageable, Afterpay is available at checkout when tickets go on sale.
All ticket prices include:
Two nights’ accommodation
All meals (2x breakfast, 2x dinner, 1x lunch)
Full access to activities, workshops, and entertainment
Private group chats before camp to connect with fellow campers
Afterpay available at checkout

All other workshops and activities are free of charge.

Eat, Drink & Be Cosy
Every meal is included - and it’s not your usual camp tucker. We’re bringing back our amazing recipe developer to the celebs for breakfasts and lunch, and two guest chefs are on dinners, including Wild Chix’s very own Katie Bachman Lewis grilling up a proper American BBQ! We cater to dietary needs - no one’s going hungry here. You will be sent a menu to choose from pre-camp.
Plus, for purchase:
Fully stocked bar on both evenings (alcoholic, non-alc, and zero ABV)
Barista coffee bar each morning (because… obviously)
Our Camp Rangers
You’ll be looked after by a dream team of Camp Rangers - skilled queer legends who’ve worked across TV, radio, festivals, world championships, and education. They’re there to keep things running smoothly, hold space when needed, and maybe even hype up the Big Dyke Arena.
A Few Practical Bits
This is off-grid. There’s no phone reception in most areas - and that’s kind of the point.
We do our best to offer Tauranga Airport pick-ups and drop-offs. Please contact us if you need this (needs to be Friday or Sunday)
There’ll be a sensory space on site and the event is friendly for most disabilities. Let us know what you need and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate.
This is an R18+ event, exclusively for the FLINTA community*: female-identifying folks, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, agender, and other marginalised genders/sexualities including pan and bisexual. If you’re unsure, just ask us.
Please Note - The Fine Print
Workshops, timings, and activities may shift slightly due to weather, guest changes, or the general unpredictability of doing something a bit wild and wonderful in the bush. But the mauri (essence and energy) of the experience won’t change. We’ll always bring the same love, intention, and community focus, and we’ll always have your back if plans need tweaking.
Tickets are strictly non-refundable under any circumstances. A huge amount of time, resources, and planning goes into Bush Camp, and people need certainty to organise their travel and weekend away. When you purchase a ticket, it secures your place and means someone else may miss out. In the unlikely event that the camp itself is cancelled, of course, refunds will be issued. Above all, come ready to show up - for yourself, for others, and for the kaupapa. This camp is built on respect, curiosity, and real connection. If you’re kind, open-minded, and up for a bit of mud and magic, you’ll fit right in.
It’s not a resort. It’s not polished. We’ve added a few boujee elements for comfort, but it’s not the Ritz. It’s our version of paradise - a little chaotic, deeply meaningful, sapphic as hell, and the kind of place where strangers become whānau and memories last well beyond the weekend.
If you have queries or questions please email us at gingerspopupsnz@gmail.com (not on whatsapp) and we will get back to you!
