Girl Gatherings Maiden Circle; May 2022
Event description
Girl Gatherings Maiden Circles is a series of workshops for girls aged 10-15yo created by Naturopath Cyena Caruana.
Girl Gatherings aims to
- Empower girls through education and self-awareness activities on their journey of emotional and physical development from tween to teen-age;
- Deepen connections within their peer group;
- Create a sense of greater community for girls by connecting them with other adult women in a safe space;
- Develop self-confidence by promoting self-reflection, verbalisation, respect and honouring of their personal experience in a social context.
In Girl Gatherings Maiden circles, girls participate with their mothers in order to learn from role-modelling. Engagement occurs through listening in a group setting as well as one-on-one discussion and sharing with both peers and adults. The focus topic will change with each session.
Being True to Myself
This is a single workshop where we explore the question What is it to be True to Myself?Â
Through structured activities involving thought, reflection and sharing (both one-on-one and in the larger group), this workshop will introduce the following concepts:
- beginning to identify and acknowledge inner thoughts and feelings;
- beginning to identify personal values;
- affirmations of self-worth and self-love.
Working with these ideas helps young girls to build self-esteem and resilience to peer pressure through developing tools for inner reflection and self-directed affirmation.
Activities will engage the girls in mother-daughter, peer to peer and group interactions, and will involve journal work, discussion, fun activities, meditation and circle sharing.
A light afternoon tea will be provided at the end of the workshop.
Workshop readiness
Your child is ready for this workshop if she is:
- 10-15yo
- Showing signs of readiness for personal reflection and deeper discussion;
- Showing signs of developing confidence in groups but requiring a safe space to develop that confidence;
- Likely to benefit from group activities.
