Friday Night Spotlighting

Join the Quoll Society of Australia for an evening of spotlighting as part of the Girraween BioBlitz. We'll meet at Dr Roberts Carpark at 7:00 pm before heading out into Girraween National Park to search for nocturnal mammals and other wildlife.

Spotlighting is a great opportunity to experience Girraween after dark and learn more about some of the amazing animals that inhabit the park. Our survey will be led by Paul Revie from the Quoll Society of Australia.

When: Friday 16 October 2026, 7:00–9:30 pm

Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear and bring a torch/headtorch, water and anything else you need to stay comfortable outdoors for several hours at night. It can be quite chilly in Girraween, even in October, so be prepared with some warm clothing.

This is a wildlife survey rather than a guaranteed wildlife-watching experience, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Please follow the instructions of the survey leader and take care not to disturb wildlife.

Accommodation: Accommodation is not provided as part of the Girraween BioBlitz. Camping is available at the Girraween Camping Area, but availability is currently limited due to drought conditions, so we recommend booking early. A range of other accommodation options to suit different budgets is available in Stanthorpe and the surrounding area.
