Girraween BioBlitz – Sunday Morning Botany Walk

Join botanist Paul Donatiu from the Queensland Threatened Plant Network for a morning exploring some of the distinctive granite habitats around Dr Roberts in Girraween National Park.

We'll head to the ramparts and pavements of the huge granite slabs immediately west of the track into Dr Roberts, exploring the plants that thrive in this remarkable landscape. These exposed granite formations create a unique range of habitats and provide an opportunity to discover some of Girraween's fascinating and often overlooked plant diversity.

Paul will share his expertise in Queensland's threatened plants and help participants identify and learn more about the flora we encounter along the way.

Whether you're an experienced botanist or simply interested in learning more about the plants of Girraween, this is a great opportunity to spend a morning exploring the park with an experienced threatened plant specialist.

Please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring plenty of water, as well as sun protection and a hat. The walk will involve exploring uneven granite surfaces and natural terrain, so participants should be comfortable walking over uneven ground.

Accommodation: Accommodation is not provided as part of the Girraween BioBlitz. Camping is available at the Girraween Camping Area, but availability is currently limited due to drought conditions, so we recommend booking early. A range of other accommodation options to suit different budgets is available in Stanthorpe and the surrounding area.
