Dive deep into the art of cutting glass, playing with shape, color and adding intricate detail and patterns to craft unique designs. With comprehensive instruction covering everything from safety protocols to decorative techniques. Our structured class format ensures the perfect balance between informative demonstrations and hands-on practice.

Glass fusing is the technique of joining two or more pieces of glass using heat in a kiln.

Slumping is placing the glass over an object or mold and using kiln heat to slump the glass into the shape of the mold.

The objects created in this workshop will remain in the kiln overnight to fuse, then placed in the kiln again to slump and collected at a later date.

About the course:

In this three hour introductory, hands on workshop, you will learn:

  • Safety requirements and procedures for the workshop space, the principles of glass fusing, slumping and texturing an understanding of types of molds available, glass compatibility, annealing and firing programs..
  • You will create one product, using frit (glass grains), stringers (glass rods) and coloured glass shapes cut by you. We will show you the kiln forming process and we will fuse and slump your piece after the workshop, ready to collect at a future date.
