Description

In October 2026, we’ll gather in Perth for three days of learning, planning, reflection and connection in partnership with Inclusion Tree.

Perth’s rivers, harbours and coastline provide a fitting backdrop for this year’s theme

Chart Your Course

Building and governing a Service for One is like captaining a vessel. You need direction, strong systems and the right crew. Sometimes you also need time to pause, review your charts and set your course.

With NDIS reforms bringing new expectations around governance, safeguarding, reporting and quality, many Services for One are entering a new phase. Strong foundations remain important, but the environment is changing.

This retreat will help you:

  • Review governance arrangements

  • Strengthen operational systems

  • Improve accountability and record keeping

  • Prepare for the next phase of the NDIS

A Working Retreat

This is not a conference.

It is a practical working retreat designed for people actively building, governing and sustaining a Service for One.

Over three days, you'll have dedicated time to:

  • Review what is working

  • Strengthen key systems

  • Respond to NDIS changes

  • Clarify future priorities

What We'll Focus On

Strengthening Governance

Explore ways to:

  • Clarify roles and responsibilities

  • Strengthen board oversight

  • Improve decision-making

  • Keep governance fit for purpose

Building Practical Systems

Work on:

  • Accountability and reporting systems

  • Team communication

  • Documentation practices

  • Sustainable quality systems

Navigating NDIS Reform

We'll examine:

  • What current reforms mean in practice

  • Areas that may require change

  • Compliance without losing flexibility

  • Protecting the strengths of the model

Clarifying Direction

Use the retreat to:

  • Reflect on priorities

  • Plan for the future

  • Strengthen sustainability

  • Map your next steps

Learn From Others

One of the most valuable aspects of the retreat is connecting with other families governing Services for One. These conversations often provide practical insights, encouragement and fresh ideas.

Who Should Attend?

This retreat is designed for people who are:

  • Operating a Service for One

  • Setting one up

  • Strengthening governance and systems

  • Preparing for future NDIS changes

It is not a general introduction to the model. It is for those ready to engage in the practical work of building a strong service.

In Partnership with Inclusion Tree

The Good Life Builders and Inclusion Tree bring extensive practical experience supporting families to build, govern and sustain family-directed services.

Why Attend?

The retreat provides space to step back from day-to-day operations and focus on what matters most.

You'll leave with:

  • Stronger foundations

  • Better systems

  • Greater confidence navigating change

  • Valuable peer connections

  • Clearer direction for the future
