Global Conversation Series – Better Business: How the BCorp Movement is Remaking Business
Event description
Join Associate Professor Danielle Logue, in conversation with Professor Chris Marquis, Samuel C. Jonson Professor of Sustainable Global Enterprise, Cornell University.
In this CBSI Global Conversation Series event, we will discuss Professor Marquis’ new book “Better Business: How the BCorp Movement is Remaking Business” where he takes a comprehensive view of the value of B corporations and argues that a more resilient and sustainable capitalism should focus on environmental, social, and financial performance.
Founded by a group of friends who met at Stanford, B Corporations undergo a rigorous certification process, overseen by the B Lab, and commit to putting social benefits, the rights of workers, community impact, and environmental stewardship on equal footing with financial shareholders. Informed by over a decade of research and animated by interviews with the movement’s founders and leading figures, Marquis’s book explores the rapid growth of companies choosing to certify as B Corps, both in the United States and internationally, and explains why the future of B Corporations is vital for us all. More about Professor Marquis’ research and book can be found on the Cornell Website.
Join us for an introductory conversation, where we briefly discuss key insights from Professor Marquis’ work, followed by an open Q&A.
