Event description

Join the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development for an insightful workshop with the United Kingdom’s “Dr Food”, Professor David Hughes

With his extensive knowledge of global food and beverage issues, Professor Hughes will delve into trends and industry developments, while highlighting opportunities for Western Australian manufacturers.

Professor Hughes will provide insights into food packaging, production, consumer behavior, and marketing opportunities in the context of a dynamic global food and beverage landscape. He will also look at the global political environment we are operating in, and how changing political policies have impacted expectations and confidence.

With markets experiencing trade restrictions and increasingly demanding safe, premium food products and transparency, it is critical to understand where the growth opportunities exist for WA food and beverage.

DPIRD's Shoestring Digital - low cost, low risk digital solutions for WA F&B

DPIRD’s Shoestring Digital Program helps small to medium business implement low-cost, low-risk digital solutions to help boost innovation, efficiency and profits.

The program has paired companies with a range of digital solutions such as:

  • A sensor based solution that measured and monitored energy usage to allow the company to lower operational costs without compromising quality
  • A downtime solution so a company could better understand and address downtime issues when manufacturing
  • A job tracking system that presents the status of jobs allowing the company to quickly identify and address misplaced or delayed jobs

This free, snapshot session is a great introduction to the Shoestring Digital program and to understand the solutions available to WA F&B manufacturers.
