Global Kinship Care Week
Event description
Join us in celebrating Global Kinship Care Week 2025 at Queensland Parliament House. This special event shines a spotlight on kinship care - when children unable to live with their parents are cared for by relatives or close family friends. Kinship care is the most common form of alternative care for children worldwide, offering greater continuity, stability, and belonging.
Now in its second year, Global Kinship Care Week is a campaign led by Family for Every Child’s global network. It calls for greater recognition and stronger support for kinship care families, ensuring children grow up safe, connected, and supported within their communities.
This gathering will bring together carers, sector leaders, advocates, and decision-makers to honour the invaluable contribution of kinship families and to explore how we can strengthen support for them in Queensland and beyond.
