Event description

Resilient communities work together to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.

7 Modules, once a month on 4th Sunday starting 27 June 2021 (US Pacific Time)

Resilient Communities seeks to strengthen communities by building resilience, disaster preparedness and fostering community driven solutions. Resilient Communities is a community education and engagement program and an OzGREEN initiative. OzGREEN is delighted to collaborate with NowWhat?! and Climate Change & Consciousness to deliver a series of Global Online Workshops.

The Resilient Communities program uses OzGREEN’s award winning community engagement processes to empower people to take personal and collective action to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters such as drought, bushfire, heatwave, flood, storm, community infrastructure damage and health emergencies.  We understand that local people are best placed to develop innovative solutions that build disaster resilience.

Throughout our program participants:

  • Identify local and global risks and threats
  • Voice their personal and community concerns
  • Create a disaster resilient vision for their home and community
  • Brainstorm personal and community solutions that will assist disaster prevention, preparedness, response and recovery
  • Develop and implement personal and community resilience action plans

The 7-module community education and action program draws on 30 years of OzGREEN experience and proven processes and will help people affected by recent disasters to transform despair into action for positive social change. RC will foster concrete action to address the hazards we face as a global community.
