Shedding light on night light data

Artificial Night-time Lights (ANTL) have been widely used in social science research as a robust proxy for economic development, the quantification of disaster impacts, electricity consumption, and various other applications. However, employing ANTL in social science research requires a comprehensive understanding of confounding factors, necessitating their individual consideration based on the specific needs of the application. 

To launch our second global training, we will be hosting Professor John Gibson from the University of Waikato (New Zealand) for a webinar on artificial night lights, their importance and their applications. PROFESSOR JOHN GIBSON
John Gibson is a development economist and economics professor at the University of Waikato. His research focuses on poverty and measuring living standards in Asia and the Pacific. He is a non-resident Visiting Fellow at the Asian Development Bank Institute and Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Development Review. He obtained his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
