Developed at the Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Ingram New Works Festival, Glut is a sharp, humane exploration of belonging, bodies, the spaces we create, and who we allow inside them.

Amos Glass, Interim Executive Director of Nashville Repertory Theatre, said, “With Glut, e.k. doolin gives us a love story that is funny, thought-provoking, and deeply human.”

Playwright e.k. doolin adds, “At its core, Glut is a love story about two people trying to celebrate something joyful in a world that keeps narrowing who gets to belong.”

Synopsis

Glut tells the story of Sarah and Steve, a couple preparing for their wedding who face a challenge far beyond choosing floral arrangements or catering. When one traditional wedding venue closes its doors to “folks of their kind”—more specifically, to people of their size—the pair must confront a world growing less tolerant even as they fight for something bigger: love, acceptance, and the celebration they deserve. With humor and heart, Glut asks audiences to consider the spaces we create, and who we allow inside them.
