Go wild in nature these school holidays!
Oaklands Wetlands is a great place to explore with kids. Winding secret paths, huge old gums with bird life, stepping stones across the water, large open paths for prams - there's something for every family.
Meet us at the Rotunda to start your AMAZING morning. You can do as little or as much as you like!
9:30 am to 10:30am - Macroinvertebrates with Green Adelaide Nature Education Staff
Go pond dipping to discover the world of water bugs. See if you can find a water boatman or a scud? These curious creatures can tell us how healthy the water is and it is a great way to explore the wetlands.
10:30 am to 11:30 am - Nature scavenger hunt and bird binoculars
collect a map and go on a nature scavenger hunt
And/or
Try out the binoculars to discover some wetland birds from a distance
11 am to midday - Nature Journaling (book here)
Explore the joy of nature through creative art. No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to express your creativity. Suitable for ages 7 - 100. Drawing materials will be provided. Numbers are limited, tickets are $5 per person, please book separately for this event here (https://events.humanitix.com/oaklands-nature-journaling).
Tickets are FREE, please order a ticket for every adult and child in your group – this will help us better plan for the event.
Remember:
Wear suitable clothing for the weather and shoes with sturdy soles.
Bring your own drink bottle, snacks and food
Children are required to be supervised by their parent/guardian at all times at this event
