Goethe Lounge: Life in Movement
Event description
Join us in honouring the life and legacy of renowned German choreographer and dancer Tanja Liedtke, whose work left a lasting mark on the dance scenes in Germany, Australia, and around the world. In 2007, Liedtke was appointed Artistic Director of Sydney Dance Company, but tragically, her life was cut short in a road accident just before she could take up the role.
In response to Liedtke’s powerful artistic legacy, Australian-German choreographers Bek Berger and James Batchelor have created a new dance work titled Resonance, which will premiere in Australia in 2025. In the lead-up to their performances at Sydney Dance Company, we invite you to a film and talk about Liedtke’s life and work.
Directed by acclaimed Australian filmmakers Sophie Hyde and Bryan Mason, Life in Movement is a touching documentary about Liedtke's creative vision. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Bek Berger and James Batchelor, who will offer insights into their creative process and Liedtke's legacy.
Free Entry with Registration.
Resonance is supported by the Tanja Liedtke Foundation, Arts ACT, Creative Australia, The Keir Foundation, Michael Adena and Joanne Daly, Canberra Theatre Centre New Works Program, and QL2 Dance.
