Goethe Lounge: 'Living Bach' Film with Q&A

Documentary film screening with Q&A --- FREE ENTRY with registration

The music of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach unites people across cultures, religions, and backgrounds – whether they live in Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Paraguay, the USA, Switzerland or Australia, their lives are deeply connected to the composer’s world-renowned music.

For her moving documentary film Living Bach, German director Anna Schmidt travelled around the world to meet these enthusiasts and explore their profound connections to Bach’s art. The film concludes with their journey to the Leipzig Bach Festival, the largest gathering of Bach's global admirers ever held.

After the screening, the film’s Australian protagonist Bianca Porcheddu will come on stage for a Q&A with filmmaker Anna Schmidt, who will be joining live from Germany via video link.

Director’s note: “My film is an emotional film, not a film that educates or informs. It speaks to the heart, it radiates a positive, life-affirming energy. I wanted it to be a film that gives hope, because it shows how people in the world are united through their love of music. We all need hope in these times.” – Anna Schmidt
