Description

In Ethiopia, the poetic practice of ሰምና ወርቅ (Wax and Gold) has been perfected over centuries. It is a form of poetry with double meanings, with the surface ‘wax’ obscuring the deeper ‘gold’.

Join Ethiopian poet Yirga Gelaw Woldeyes to learn more about this ancient artform and explore how to craft poetry with multiple meanings ranging from spirituality to politics. Suitable for poets of all levels.

This workshop will take place twice:
