Golden Point - Permablitz - July 2024

Ballarat Permaculture Guild is doing a truly Retro-suburbia Permablitz!


Our hosts, James, Vardis and Andrew are doing a shared blitz across their joined backyard retro-suburbia style.

Both properties have a permaculture focus and we will be working on both at once as the space is shared between the properties.

Tasks on the day will include:

- Planting an orchard on the terraced back yard with sheet mulching and mulch

- Building a compost bay system

- Moving the chooks to a new space to allow them to interact with the compost system above

- Preparing the space for and installing wicking beds

- Preparing watering system and filling raised garden beds

- A suburban swale to manage the overflow water and water the orchard

- Moving some native shrubs to help with screening

Lunch and refreshments will be provided by the hosts, so registration is essential for catering purposes.

What to bring:

- Gardening gloves

- Sun gear (hat, sunscreen, long sleeved shirt etc.)

- Covered shoes

- Water bottle
