Event description

YLab is thrilled to invite you to the launch of Good News Meltona new initiative in partnership with the Victorian Government spotlighting the people, places and stories that make Melton a vibrant and thriving community.

About Good News Melton

Good News Melton connects the community of Melton together through good, local stories.

Led by a group of young storytellers, Good News Melton aims to increase participation in community events, and strengthen connections between residents, businesses and local government. At the same time, the initiative is fostering the next generation of Melton's young Journalists by building their skills in storytelling, media and community engagement.

Established in 2024, Good News Melton now has a dedicated team, bespoke website and library of stories, and is itching to be launched within the community.

About the event

Join us from 4-6pm on Thursday 22 May at the Corr-Richards Training Rooms (Melton Library) as we:

  • Celebrate the launch of Good News Melton,
  • Hear directly from our young Journalists,
  • View a showcase of their stories, and
  • Connect with the community members and partners who believe in the power of positive storytelling.

The event is open to the public with light refreshments provided.

Getting there and accessibility

The Corr-Richards Training Rooms are located on the first floor of Melton Library. The Library is wheelchair accessible, and you can access the first floor via the lift near the customer service desk, or stairs located on both sides of the building.

There are two entrances to the Library:

  • Henry Street entrance - offers all-day parking
  • McKenzie Street entrance - has timed parking

Melton Library can also be reached via the 455 or 458 busses from Melton station, or 456 bus from Rockbank station.

If you have any accessibility requirements, please email hello@ylab.global if there's anything we can do to create an accessible and safe space with you.

We acknowledge that the Good News Melton launch will take place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people, Wadawurrung people and Bunurong people in the Melton region, and that sovereignty of this land was never ceded. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and recognise that First Nations self-determination is vital to achieving justice and equity in our systems and communities.
